The key elements to look out for are below, if you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact the team on 0207 952 5328 or email@example.com.
CFDs involve leverage meaning your profits and losses are magnified. When trading CFDs you trade on margin and the amount of leverage dictates the level of margin required to trade.
For example, Lloyds Banking Group requires 10% margin to trade. To open a £5,000 buy position Lloyds shares you will be required to have a £500 deposit as margin. In this situation, your £500 deposit is leveraged 10x up to £5,000.
As a CFD trade provides a leveraged position, you in effect ‘borrowing’ the remaining exposure for which you are charged a small financing fee.
When you open a CFD position, you are charged a financing fee to keep the position open overnight. In general, most CFD platforms charge around 3% +/- LIBOR.
In the example of Lloyds given above, depending on interest rates the time, you should expect to pay around 30p-60p per day.
The spread is the difference between the buy price and sell price. Some markets such as indices CFDs and Forex CFDs are traded on the spread only by our platform partners.
Markets such as single stocks CFDs will also attract a commission in addition to the market spread.
Spreads and commissions can vary depending on the platform, time of day and Ocean Capital Group service.
